Fully furnished apartments in a newly built complex across from the hospital
Dedicated on-call rooms for ED physicians
Air travel, accommodations, and car rental reimbursed per HFO NSLP guidelines
Locums typically fly into Timmins Airport, followed by a 2-hour drive to Kapuskasing
Description of Duties
On-call hospitalist coverage:Friday 08:00 to the following Friday 08:00
Ward, Special Care Unit (SCU), and Hospice patients
Surgical Assist (optional):Friday 08:00 to Friday 08:00 for non-elective surgeries
Continuing Care Unit coverage:Friday 17:00 to Monday 08:00
Covered by local family physicians during the week
Admissions:Hospitalists cover admissions from 08:00–17:00
Evening admissions typically covered by the on-call Emergency Physician
Patient Volumes
10–20 admissions per week
Typical census: 25–28 patients10–15 are generally ALC
SCU acuity ranges from telemetry to mechanical ventilationIntubated patients are stabilized and transferred to Health Sciences North (Sudbury)
Remuneration
Weekly stipend: $6,000
Daily honorarium: $322.45
Fee-for-service billing, including E-codes
Typical total weekly earnings: $5,000 – $9,000 (in addition to stipend)
Clerical Support
Unit Assistant / Flow Coordinator on site Monday–Friday (daytime)
