Located 1.5 hours west of Ottawa, Pembroke Regional Hospital (PRH) delivers a broad range of acute, subacute, outpatient and diagnostic services to a mixed urban and rural population of approximately 100,000 residents in the Upper Ottawa Valley.
PRH is a designated District Stroke Center and has a level 3 ICU that is staffed by a comprehensive multi-disciplinary team including nurses, physicians, and respiratory therapists with access to all other allied health specialists. We are also the orthopedic hub for the Renfrew County.
Our Hospitalist Medicine Department is currently recruiting physicians for full time, part time and locum coverage. As MRP to medical, psychiatric and rehabilitation patients, you will have the opportunity to continue to grow your skills and knowledge base while benefiting from support from many in-house specialists.
Work Description
– 4 Hospitalist Teams
– Monday – Sunday work week
– Call 1 in 4 (4:00pm to 8:00am), from home
– Roster size of 16-20 patients (mix of medical, psychiatric and rehabilitation patients)
– Competitive daily stipend + on-call HOCC and FFS
– Pager and billing agent provided
– Eligible for return of service and NRRRI

Beds: 9 Level 3 ICU, 42 Medical, 15 Mental Health, 22 Rehab, 6 Integrated Acute Stroke
In-house specialties: Anesthesia, ENT, General Surgery, Intensive Care, Internal Medicine, OBGYN, Orthopedics, Psychiatry, Physiatry, Radiology and Urology
Admissions: orders completed by admitting service, after-hours held until the morning
CODE BLUE: managed by ED/ICU
Imagining and Lab: available 24/7
Teaching: affiliated with the University of Ottawa, hosting many Medical Students and Residents
Other practice opportunities: Rural Emergency Medicine, OR Assist, NRP and Newborn Care
Requirements
– Fully independent registration (or eligible for) with College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
– Experience working with teams and possessing strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
