Position Description:
Covenant Health invites applications for a Geriatric Psychiatrist to be based primarily at Villa Caritas in Edmonton, Alberta.
Villa Caritas is an acute mental health facility dedicated to supporting seniors with complex mental health and medical needs. The facility offers timely, specialized interventions with a focus on stabilizing conditions and facilitating safe transitions – either back home or to a more appropriate care setting. Villa Caritas operates in partnership with Covenant Health’s Community Geriatric Psychiatry Program, which provides ongoing support and follow-up care for seniors living with mental illness in the community.
The main location of this position is Villa Caritas, with a mandatory ½ day outpatient component at the Covenant Wellness Community – Lakewood (7319 29 Avenue – Edmonton, AB). This position is a mixed full-time inpatient and outpatient role working collaboratively with 14 other geriatric psychiatrists who also provide inpatient and outpatient care.
Multiple candidates will be selected to fill this position. 1.0 FTE is negotiable at time of hire.
Qualifications:
Required:
· MD or equivalent.
· Licensed or eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
· Certification in Psychiatry with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
· Expertise and commitment to quality care and patient safety.
· Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) in the healthcare environment.
· Understanding of Just Culture and its role in healthcare.
Pay:
Remuneration will be based on the Fee-for-Service (FFS) schedule.
